Residence Permit Through Employment

Obtaining a residence permit is a clear, step-by-step process.

The process of obtaining a residence permit in Latvia consists of several sequential stages. Depending on the legal basis, the procedure may vary slightly; however, the main stages of the process remain generally the same.

Consultation and situation analysis

At the first stage, we discuss the situation of both the employer and the employee and assess the possibility of obtaining a residence permit and compliance with legal requirements.

We analyze the employment conditions, the requirements for the position, and the documents necessary for the application process.

Preparation of Employer Documents

After analyzing the situation, the preparation of documents from the employer’s side begins.

We assist in preparing the company’s required documentation, help obtain the employer’s authorization to hire a foreign specialist, arrange employment-related documents, and compile the full package of documents needed to issue an invitation for the foreign employee.

Submission of the Invitation Application

After the documents have been prepared, the application (invitation request) for hiring a foreign employee is submitted.

The application is filed by the employer in accordance with the established procedure through the relevant state authorities.

Submission of the full document package

After the invitation is approved, the main application package for the residence permit is submitted.

At this stage, documents confirming the grounds for obtaining a residence permit are provided, as well as the required personal and financial documents, including a certificate of no criminal record, proof of sufficient financial means, confirmation of accommodation, and other documents required by law.

Document review

After the full application package has been submitted, the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs of Latvia reviews the documents and makes a decision on the case.

The processing time depends on the selected application procedure and the state fee paid. At this stage, the submitted documents are verified, and if necessary, additional information or documents may be requested.

We maintain communication with the migration authorities, respond promptly to any requests, and keep the client informed about the progress of the application.

Issuance of the Residence Permit Card

After a positive decision has been made, the applicant arrives in Latvia to complete the issuance of the residence permit card.

At this stage, biometric data is registered and the residence permit card is issued.
