Residence Permit Through Family Reunification

Obtaining a residence permit is a clear, step-by-step process.

The residence permit application through family reunification follows several consecutive stages. Depending on the circumstances, the procedure may vary slightly, but the main stages of the process remain broadly the same.

Consultation and case assessment

At the first stage, we discuss the client’s situation and assess the possibility of obtaining a residence permit on the basis of family reunification.
We analyse the grounds for the application, the legal requirements, and the list of documents needed to prove the family relationship.

Document preparation

Submission of the full set of documents

Once the letter of invitation has been approved, the main set of documents for the residence permit application is submitted.
At this stage, documents confirming the grounds for obtaining the residence permit are submitted, along with the required personal and financial documents, proof of sufficient funds, proof of accommodation, and other documents required by law.

Review of documents

After the full set of documents has been submitted, the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs of Latvia reviews the documents provided and makes a decision on the case.
The review period depends on the selected processing option and the state fee paid.
At this stage, the submitted documents are checked. If necessary, additional information or documents may be requested.
We stay in contact with the migration authority, respond promptly to any requests, and keep the client informed about the progress of the document review.

Receiving the residence permit card

Once a positive decision has been made, the applicant arrives in Latvia. At this stage, biometric data are registered and the residence permit card is issued.
